Work speech team and diversity is unanimous - but does anyone know what you're talking?
The emphasis on teamwork and its corollary, diversity within the team is one of the most abused clichés today. It is hard to disagree that teamwork is more productive than individual work. A University Kellogg concluded that the teams are likely 37.7 times more likely to innovate than authors-ground (in areas already established). But what does this team work? It is the sum of many individual works? It is the division of tasks under the direction of a leader? It's somewhere in the middle? In a way, all work is team. Because language is a social good, objectives and parameters we work with are social. Even a work of art: Pablo Picasso was supported in the various stages of his career, in the work of Edvard Munch, Toulouse Lautrec, Paul Cezanne, Georges Braque. (When you want to emphasize the individual genius, is called it influences.)

Similarly, diversity is inherent in any team because there are no identical individuals. The real question is: what diversity we talking about? Scott Page, professor of complex systems and economics at the University of Michigan, differentiates the apparent diversity, based on stereotypes (gender, ethnicity, age, nationality ...), diversity-based ways of thinking, world outlook, forecasting models - that they are derived from cultural education, training and personal experiences. According to him, only the second kind of differences produces different results. The stereotypes based selection can even be harmful, because people tend to adjust to the expectations placed on them.
Given the enormous advantages of mounting adaptable and creative teams, it is worth paying attention to what they say Rich Karlgaard (publisher and columnist for Forbes magazine) and Michael S. Malone (journalist specializing in technology), authors of the book Team Genius:

1. To avoid high turnover (caused by discomfort in too many times) it is imperative to promote the pride of belonging to the group - with titles, stories, recognition, adventures lived together etc.

2. Diversity is more positive when the group understands it as a way to learn and increase their capacity to adapt to new challenges. If the team believes that diversity is a competitive advantage, it probably will be.

3. Teams that stay together for long periods produce better. This is because there is a learning curve in personal relationships. One way to speed up the process is each write texts on their characteristics to others read. Still, you may want to keep the team together for more than one project.

4. A team of experts, a lot of information is lost. Sometimes pays to add a generalist to translate the findings to others.

5. A council in vogue is not to criticize other people's ideas in brainstorming sessions. But experimental research show that teams instructed to criticize and debate even in brainstorming sessions have better results.

6. To avoid the "group mentality" that obstructs creativity, mix old friends with rookies. However, each new member must, before making critical, conform. While it is considered a foreigner, your ideas will be disregarded.
